About Golden Wood Bows

My name is Forrest Shattuck.

I am Goldenwood Bows. I became interested in crafting longbows/self bows in the mid nineties. I purchased and read the book, Chasing the Osage Bow. Having become a student of the late Dean Torges, my bows are styled in his fashion, i.e., simple lines, balanced near the arrow shelf, slightly rounded limbs on the belly side, and simple handles that flow into the limbs. Sometimes I use a slight variation on the handles especially on staves of spliced billets. I never rush a bow. It takes time to fashion, tiller, and 'teach" the limbs to bend. Each bow that I craft is of the highest quality in performance and finish, and will cast arrows at speeds in excess of the established norms.
